Where it all began

Wishing Well Home Care was founded by Sue Perry in 2015. Having worked in the Insurance Industry for over 25 years, she decided it was time for a complete change of career. After volunteering for some care work, she knew straight away that she had found her calling.

Sue joined a local care company and underwent all the basic training required, and despite the long hours she thoroughly enjoyed her new role. However, she couldn’t get away from the feeling of disappointment of not seeing the same client very often, so not having the chance to really get to know them. It was for this reason, she moved to another company where she was placed as a caregiver to three lovely ladies, two of whom had dementia – dementia being very close to Sue’s heart having lost her father to this terrible illness at a fairly young age.

While working for the company, Sue was nominated for and won the West Midlands Carer of the Year award 2013 to 2014, a recognition she is very proud of.

It was in March 2015 when Sue decided to set up her own business, providing domestic help in the home and companionship care to clients with dementia. Wishing Well Home Care was founded. Sue slowly built the business and was soon proudly able to employ a loving team of staff, building a reputation of being a caring service in the town, employing local staff to look after local people.

Sue has now retired from the business but has left Wishing Well in the capable hands of her management team and caregivers.

Why we do what we do

Wishing Well’s core values remain consistent with Sue’s vision today. Born out of a passion for caring, for empathy, and to be able to provide companionship and wellbeing, we continue to strive to make a difference to the community.

Community spirit

We continue to encourage social interaction within the community.

Many have enjoyed the organised events and outings which have included trips to the seaside, rides on steam trains and canal boats, and even a sing along with Elvis.

Past fundraising events have contributed donations to essential causes such as the Alzheimer’s Society.

Care you can trust

When we consider new members of staff to become part of our team, we ask whether we feel they are good enough to look after our own family.

In doing so it ensures we only have the very best caregivers who all have the same ethos and are all proud to provide the very best care.

Testimonials

Hello just writing to say a big thank you for all the care you have all given to mum over the past 2 years.

My mother, Ann  (88), has been supported by Wishing Well Home Care after a fall at her home. Right from the first visit mum was very well looked after and was always put first. Over time we had to increase the number of visits required and the same level of care was given throughout. I would highly recommend Sue and her team to anyone needing care services.  Brian Taylor

As a review, I would say you could not find a better team of carers at Wishing Well.

The care and affection they showed my father was awesome and he enjoyed every moment of your company. You made his last year as happy as it could be. You looked after him and cared for him as though he was your own Dad. I cannot thank you enough.

Thank you so much - Rob (Son)

Wishing Well have been attending my 94 year old mother, who has early onset dementia, for just over a year.

Weekly visits include half an hour of DVD exercise which they follow on the TV, followed by tea and biscuits, followed by board games, dominoes, puzzles, etc. Mum very much looks forward to their visits which have proved of huge benefit to her, helping to keep her physically and mentally active. In addition to the benefit afforded to my mum, there is an enormous benefit to me as I feel happy and confident that mum is in good hands when I slip away for a couple of hours “me” time. My recommendations for their caring support could not be more positive.

Claire I would like to say a massive thank you to you for all of your care and support for my dad and our family since we contacted you in November.

You and your team at Wishing Well have been incredibly supportive and helpful during what has been a somewhat difficult few months. You have been particularly supportive in helping me, help my dad and brother and I would also like to say thanks to all of the team of carers.

My mother, Elizabeth, is 81 and suffers from Alzheimers. She has been supported by Wishing Well Domestic Care for 2 years now. The level of care she receives from Wishing Well is second to none and allows her to live a very full life courtesy of helpers she considers as friends.

The service is extremely reliable and the ladies go more than the extra mile continually for her – we are so happy. It is no exaggeration that she would be in a care home without the help given by the team and we are immensely pleased to be using Wishing Well Domestic Care for her.
